A bit about the project:

Stage 1 – Backend reporting system (Complete January 2008)

Stage 1HSP first contacted us early in 2008, to discuss  an increasing need to more closely monitor their advertising expenses, verse effectiveness. Due to the complex nature of the HSP Travel business model, we decided to create a basic product management system with advanced reporting capabilities.

This data led to huge reductions in wasted advertising dollars; after this, we all started to scheme ways that would further streamline their current business systems.

Stage 2 – Frontend customer and agent website (Complete April 2008)

Stage 2With over 100 holiday packages in locations around Australia and overseas, HSP Travel was quickly out growing the CMS which was driving their current customer website. We had experience with large scale, large traffic CMS driven sites, so we quickly put our hands up to redevelop the website. We used a focus which would decrease the time spent administering the site.

After a month of work, the new hsptravel.com.au website launched; we had successfully reduced the time taken to add new packages from 3hours to just 30mins. This increased the 'search engine friendliness' of the site and made it possible to quickly roll out a custom 'agent only' area and feature set.

Stage 3 - Backend CRM and product management system (Complete September 2008)

Stage 3While the front end website and back end reporting, was now streamlined, the HSP team was still operating on a dated CRM and excel based product management system. Not only was it making it difficult to work outside of the office (the CRM was not 100% web based),  'work arounds' and 'tricks' made it very difficult to train new staff.

After spending considerable time understanding the workflow of each of the staff members, a new CRM was planned and developed. This helped to manage the booking process from the very first email to the post-sales follow up.

Stage 4 – Frontend package enquiry and booking system (Complete December 2008)

Stage 4The recently completed 4th stage of the HSP project involved tying the first 3 stages of the project together into a 'complete solution'.  The frontend public facing website now features enquiry and booking forms powered by the backend product pricing and availability engine.

While this stage was the shortest (< 200hours), it represents the seamless integration of a CAKE driven backend office and TYPO3 driven frontend website... allowing complete streamline of day to day business operations for the entire HSP Travel team.

What our client has to say about Marvel: "Marvel Internet Group proved an excellent choice of technology partner. Developing custom systems has allowed us to implement technology that serves the business rather than being forced to re-engineer the business around existing off-the-shelf solutions."
